DIADEM Demonstration Event at Transfer Advisory Council Meeting

On November 23, 2010, the DIADEM consortium organized a large scale demonstration event collocated with the first Transfer Advisory Council (TAC) meeting.

The event consisted of live demonstrations of the DIADEM system followed by a technical discussion with the TAC. The demonstrations were based on the DCMR use case, in particular early detection of chemical pollution and efficient collaboration of experts in a complex crisis management process. The demonstrations were followed by a technical workshop, where the DIADEM partners explained to the delegates technical aspects of the components used in the demonstration. The UCV demonstrated advanced negotiation mechanisms, which allow intelligent filtering of information and self-configuration of DIADEM workflows. University of Oerebro demonstrated novel gas concentration mapping tools. University of Amsterdam presented advanced interfacing solutions. Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Thales demonstrated the use of scenario-based reasoning in combination with multi criteria decision analysis. Finally, PDC gave a comprehensive demonstration of the latest version of the ARGOS tool.

The event was concluded with a roundtable in which TAC members provided invaluable feedback for the DIADEM consortium and promising ideas on the exploitation of the DIADEM results were generated.

Overall, the demonstration event in combination with the TAC meeting provided a firm confirmation that the DIADEM results are in line with the needs of the organizations involved in environmental management, in particular, as well as crisis management, in general.
