10th DKKV Forum (23-24 November 2009)

On 23 and 24 November 2009, the 10th annual forum of the German Committee for Disaster Reduction took place in Bonn, Germany. This year the forum was dedicated to data and information management.

Tina Comes presented the approach that has been developed in Diadem: She showed how decision making under severe uncertainty can be supported by the use of scenarios. Furthermore, she presented a new approach of constructing scenarios in a distributed way relying on experts that may, e.g., be dispersed geographically.

For this presentation, the DKKV gave Tina Comes the best young scientist award. Furthermore, a report on the Diadem decision support system was broadcast by WDR radio.

As the DKKV forum is one of the leading national conferences in the field of disaster reduction with participants from all fields of emergency management (e.g., fire fighters, national and local emergency management authorities, researchers), interesting discussions were stimulated by this presentation.
