Diadem Kickoff Meeting

The Diadem project officially started September 1st, 2008 with a successful and lively kick-off meeting organized at the D-CIS lab in Delft on August 28 and 29, 2008. The main purpose of this meeting was a detailed plan for the research and development activities in the first phase, i.e. the first nine months. The first phase focuses on the creation of the initial requirements, making an overview of the relevant techniques and theories that will be further developed, making an overview of integration principles of the existing tools/software as well as work on the development of an initial executable Diadem demonstrator system. The demo system will feature:

  • A baseline Diadem Process Integration framework which supports a seamless combination of very heterogeneous automated systems and human experts in complex reasoning processes.
  • Initial integration of gas detector prototypes that can process information from electronic noses as well as human ones and make reports obtained via landlines and mobile phones.
  • A simple integration of the ARGOS system.
  • A first study of integrating scenario-based reasoning and multi-criteria decision making for use cases by our practitioners from DCMR Milieudienst Rijnmond and DEMA.

The secondary purpose was to bring together most of the involved researchers and practitioners to get them more and better acquainted; to share research objectives, interests and to arrange the first meetings and joint activities. The photo shows the participants:
